As I looked down at my iPhone yesterday, I saw that three apps had been updated. For those keeping score, OpenTable, NYTimes, and foursquare were in need of some upgrading. At that moment, I had what I would call a minor epiphany about Web video and its future: there isn’t enough innovation involving performance, distribution, or creative.

I agree that there isn’t enough innovation in online video right now. That’s because the industry is in the midst of major consolidation. At the moment everyone’s trying to find the right business model and the right margins to stay afloat and ultimately thrive. Having done that, innovation will return in a major way.
That said: there is innovation out there. You just need to look for it. What about our dashboard announcement? That was innovative. And every blip user is getting access to it today.
